Telephone triage and "In person" triage for Covid19

How to carry out covid19 telephone triage quickly, rapidly and safely

In order to limit people’s movements as far as possible, when a physiotherapy appointment is booked by telephone a telephone triage is carried out. This makes it possible to assess whether the patient is at risk of Covid19 infection or whether they can come to the practice on the day of the appointment.

A practical matter

The main problem with this practice is how to take appointments while you are on the move and do not have the form to write the answers on. We certainly cannot expect to remember them all!

A matter of time

How much time will we have to spend on this, recording every required question for each patient? It is certainly not a negligible job.

In-Person Triage"

Once it has been established that the patient is not a possible source of infection, it is best to have the patient sign a triage questionnaire on entering the premises at every session and appointment.

Our solution

To make the procedure easier we have introduced in BeebeeDoc practice management software for medical practices e physiotherapists e osteopaths a practical, quick and functional way to fill in the telephone triage questionnaire directly to the patient. The process consists of the following steps

  • from BeebeeDoc you can send a requested from the patient by email or telephone (SMS), or fill in the form directly

  • If it is sent, the patient receives a message where they will be able to via a button fill in the form, entering their missing personal details

The patient receives the email with the link

  • Il patient fills in the form from mobile, tablet or computer

The patient fills in the form

  • I results will be uploaded directly in BeebeeDoc in the patient's file, in pdf format.

Results are uploaded into BeebeeDoc

  • On each patient record there will be 2 checkboxes: Pre-Triage Covid19 OK, and Pre-Triage Covid19 ALERT; when it receives a completed questionnaire, the platform automatically sets the OK checkbox if ALL the answers are NO, while any YES answer to any question in the questionnaire sets the ALERT.

  • From the appointment list you can see the status of the patient's telephone triage in its 3 possible states: "To be completed", OK (all answers negative), ALERT (at least one positive answer). BeebeeDoc already handles the validity period of the Telephone Triage for the 14 days established. Any appointment more than 14 days after the telephone triage was completed will show the status as "To be completed".

As for "In-Person" Triage, BeebeeDoc will let you print a pre-filled form with all the necessary questions, which the patient can complete while waiting, right at the entrance to the facility.

Patient monitoring

BeebeeDoc aims to make it easier to collect the data and the patients' answers; it will always be up to the specialist, however, to analyse those answers and decide case by case the best measures for the safety of the patient and of everyone they might come into contact with inside the facility.
